Curriculum
Itsy Bitsy offers something a bit unique when it comes to our teaching style—using a structured yet free-flowing curriculum, the Montessori method, and free play to shape young minds. Before starting Itsy Bitsy, my son attended a few different daycares, each offering a different teaching style. I loved Montessori because it taught independence and free-thinking, but I often worried it would not prepare him for primary school. The curriculum-based school did not leave much room for autonomy or free-thinking, but it was more like what they would soon be experiencing in kindergarten. Free playtime is just as important as study time because we all need a break from work! As a Montessori teacher, I understand and experienced what my son needed for him. As I put this curriculum together, I decided to blend the learning styles so that each child gets a well-rounded education that fosters intelligence, independence, and, most importantly, imagination.
Each room will have activities, such as the reading nook, the Montessori station, and the imagination station. These activities include interactive and educational experiences to teach your child reading, writing, independence, and confidence. In the imagination station, children will interact with things like a kid's full kitchen, toy appliances like a mixer and a blender, a laundry station, a cleaning cart, and much more. Kids can relax and enjoy a book in the reading nook, and we will have a circle storytime. We will also have extracurricular lessons, yoga, exercise and nutrition, gardening, music, and dance.
